The Sarawak Digital Economy Awards 2023 (Sarawak DEA2023) has witnessed an overwhelming response, underlining its significance as a platform that recognizes and celebrates exceptional contributions in the digital realm.
This year’s Sarawak DEA2023 has received an impressive total of 139 entries, a 32 percent increase in entries received compared to last year’s number of 94, reflecting the remarkable enthusiasm and commitment to digital transformation in the region.
As the admission process was more stringent this year, out of these 139 entries, only 81 were accepted for the first round of evaluations.
From the first round, 24 finalists have emerged to move on to the 2ndround of evaluations which involved a pitching session before the panel of judges. The 24 finalists represent a pool of Sarawakian talent and innovation that promises to set new standards in the digital domain.
These finalists, spanning eight award categories, have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing Sarawak’s digital economy.
Each category is a testament to the diversity and impact of digital initiatives, spanning the following categories:
1. Digital Technology Transformation Award: Celebrating organisations that have strategically harnessed digital technology to redefine their presence, aligning themselves with community needs and market forces.
2. Research & Development and Commercialization Award: Honouring those who have pushed the boundaries of technology through significant contributions to research and development with intrinsic commercialization potential.
3. Entrepreneurship and Startup Award: Recognizing the exceptional growth and innovation of entrepreneurs and startups, who have addressed critical challenges through innovative digital solutions.
4. Digital Inclusivity Award: Commending champions who have made significant strides in bridging the digital divide, transforming communities through their commitment to inclusivity and contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
5. Digital Government Award: Recognizing transformative government digitization projects that have enhanced public service delivery, elevated the citizen experience, and improved livelihood.
6. Digital Creative Content Award: Celebrating the impactful use of digital content to educate, empower, create awareness, and promote values that shape society.
7. Environmental Sustainability Award: Applauding organisations that have championed eco-conscious practices, driving sustainability through innovative models and good governance.
8. Digital Leadership Award: Acknowledging digital leaders who have advocated for transformative digitalization, setting examples that inspire others to follow.
9. Special Award: Premier’s Digital Economy Award: The pinnacle of recognition, acknowledging exemplary outcomes achieved by the winners across these categories.
Sarawak DEA2023, will culminate in the upcoming awards night on 5 October 2023, where the eight (8) finalists’ submissions will be showcased.
The award promises to be a celebration of digital innovation, collaboration, and progress. Providing a platform for visionaries, pioneers, and innovators to inspire, collaborate, and pave the way for a digitally advanced Sarawak, the winners this year will certainly be one to watch out for.
