CelcomDigi And DHL Supply Chain’s First 5G AI Inventory Solutions

CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) and DHL Supply Chain Malaysia (DHL), initiated Malaysia’s first 5G powered Artificial Intelligence (AI) Autonomous Inventory Management System.

Supported by CelcomDigi’s 4G LTE network and 5G connectivity, DHL’s Integrated Logistics Centre located in Shah Alam is now equipped with the latest AI and robotic solutions, for optimised and efficient inventory management.

CelcomDigi chief executive officer Datuk Idham Nawawi said the collaboration between their Innovation Centre and DHL demonstrates the real value and benefits of 5G technology, robotics, and AI. 

“This is part of their continuous effort to drive 5G adoption effectively with Malaysia’s enterprises and digital ecosystem at large. 

“As two different industries embrace innovation and digital transformation through productivity and cutting-edge digital solutions, we are reimagining warehouse logistics with an improved efficiency of daily operations,” he said in a statement today.

Officiated by Communications and Digital minister Fahmi Fadzil, the system is delivered through its newly set up innovation centre, leveraging on 5G technology and AI solutions for robotic inventory management systems, providing an enhanced and efficient multi-story warehouse management at optimum standards.

DHL Supply Chain Malaysia country managing director Mario Lorenz added this collaboration marks the dawn of a new era in the world of logistics and telecommunications.

“Our 5G-powered AI Autonomous Inventory System is not just an achievement but a testament to what is possible when industry leaders join forces to push the boundaries of innovation.”

CelcomDigi and DHL will continue its collaboration to mull over the utilisation of the system to all DHL warehouses nationwide.

Lopez said by utilising the capabilities of autonomous drones, DHL carries out daily inventory management and operational tasks with automated stock-taking solutions and computer vision technologies independently and without human error.

“The solution will enable efficient stock counting operations, achieving up to 20 times efficiency with up to 100% precision and accuracy. It also enhances space utilisation within the warehouse and reduces daily electricity consumption.”
