INTERPOL Certifies Cybersecurity Malaysia As Major Contributor To Development Guidelines

CyberSecurity Malaysia’s Digital Forensic Team led by Sarah Khadijah Taylor has been certified by INTERPOL as a major contributor to the development of the INTERPOL Guidelines for Seizing Virtual Asset.

The INTERPOL Guidelines provide a comprehensive method for conducting investigations of virtual assets, including cryptocurrencies to investigative officers and legal experts from its 194 member states.

These guidelines were developed as one of the efforts to combat cybercrime involving virtual assets which are becoming more prevalent.

In a statement relapsed by CyberSecurity Malaysia today (Nov 6), Minister of Communications and Digital Fahmi Fadzil said: “This is a proud achievement. The certificate by INTERPOL is a recognition of the competence of CyberSecurity Malaysia’s digital forensic experts. The ability of the experts proved to be successful in producing innovative solutions in efforts to deal with and combat cyber threats and crimes in Malaysia.

“This recognition also boosts the country’s image to the world’s digital technology stage which is increasingly challenging at the moment”.

CyberSecurity Malaysia has become an excellent example behind the development of several guidelines with an effective practical approach to assist in the investigation of cybercrime in Malaysia.

The guidelines were launched at the 2nd INTERPOL New Technology Forum Law Enforcement Conference, which was officiated by the Minister of Justice of the State of Bavaria on 12 October 2023 in Nuremberg, Germany.
