5G Subscribers Touch 3.6 Million

5G subscription in the country has touched 3.6 million or 10.8 percent as of 31 October, this was stated by the Communication and Digital Ministry.

To increase the adoption of 5G among Malaysians, the government introduced special packages in August offering lower entry costs for devices and plans, especially for those belonging to the B40 community. Out of which close to 100,000 have taken up the offers while more efforts will be put in place for higher adoption.

Malaysia was among the slowest to introduce 5G but has since caught up after sole provider Digital Nasional Berhad doubled up efforts in building infrastructure across the country. As of to-date populated coverage has hit 73% with the goal of reaching 80% by year end.
