Government Maintained Maximum Retail Price For Bottled Pure Palm Cooking Oil

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to assist citizens in alleviating the cost of living and addressing concerns over price hikes to shield consumers from unreasonable increases.

Several proactive measures have been implemented to aid citizens through the government’s MADANI initiatives.

Among these initiatives is the retention of the Maximum Retail Price for bottled pure palm cooking oil via the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering (Maximum Price Determination) Order (No.13) 2023.

The government has agreed to maintain the maximum retail prices for bottled pure palm cooking oil as outlined in the following schedule:

Any party found selling above the maximum price may face legal action under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, leading to penalties such as fines or imprisonment.

Individuals could be fined up to RM100,000 or face imprisonment not exceeding three years, or both. Companies may face fines of up to RM500,000.

The government will continue to monitor and enforce regulations while encouraging consumers to report any violations under KPDN’s jurisdiction, including retail prices of bottled pure palm cooking oil in the market, through various official channels:
