Roger Dubuis Unveils Exquisite Knights Of The Round Table Timepiece

Renowned Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis has introduced the latest evolution of its iconic Knights of the Round Table collection, combining centuries-old craftsmanship with a mythical narrative.

The timepiece narrates a wintry Arthurian adventure, featuring twelve gallant heroes defending their kingdom against an ice-bound threat.

The Knights of the Round Table collection, rooted in the legend of equality and shared mastery, symbolizes collaboration among visionary designers, courageous watchmakers, and skilled artisans.

The collection’s newest interpretation captures the essence of valour, chivalry, and faithfulness, depicting a frozen landscape and exquisite character portrayal.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, each of the twelve micro-engraved knights is dynamic in movement and individual in posture, creating a stage for action frozen in time.

The knights, standing 6 mm tall, undergo an elaborate craftsmanship process, including initial drawings, resin mock-ups, 3D scans, and manual engraving that takes one to three days for each knight.

The dial of the timepiece, inspired by the knights’ quest for the Holy Grail, features an outer flange framed in transparent ice-blue glass, crafted using the Murano method.

The dial cracks open, revealing a scene of knights encountering an icy land above a deep and vivid lake. The ice-blue glass is also used for the main disc and large blocks representing powdered snow, assembled individually to create a 3D puzzle.

Roger Dubuis further pushes the boundaries with the choice of materials, using Titanium Damascus for the 45 mm case. The blacksmith’s meticulous process involves stacking Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium plates, heating, hammering, and shaping the metal to form a solid block with a unique wave pattern. An acid bath reveals the layers, resulting in a captivating and durable case.

The timepiece’s dial features a window beneath the bezel, allowing the wearer to admire the micro-engraved knights from various angles. The caseback showcases a remarkable oscillating weight inspired by stained-glass windows, reflecting Roger Dubuis’ expertise in skeletonised design.

Powered by the automatic Monobalancier RD821 calibre, the watch comprises 172 components, adhering to the criteria of the Poinçon de Genève for hand-finishing. The crown and protector are shaped like a sword guard, reminiscent of the legendary Excalibur.

The Knights of the Round Table timepiece is limited to only 28 editions, emphasizing Roger Dubuis’ commitment to exclusivity and peerless design. The watch comes with a dark blue strap and a Quick Release System for easy customization.

As a testament to Roger Dubuis’ dedication to excellence, the Knights of the Round Table collection encapsulates the Maison’s pursuit of pushing boundaries and delivering an unparalleled experience in Hyper Horology™. The timepiece embodies the spirit of the legendary Knights, bound by an oath to embark on adventures, right wrongs, protect the weak, and humble the proud.

This exquisite creation, with its fusion of craftsmanship and mythical inspiration, stands as a testament to Roger Dubuis’ position at the forefront of innovative and artistic watchmaking.
