Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin assumes the role of the new defense minister in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s inaugural Cabinet reshuffle. Khaled, previously the higher education minister, succeeds Mohamad Hasan, who transitions to the role of foreign minister and concurrently holds the position of Umno deputy president.
The reshuffle also sees Zambry Abdul Kadir, the former foreign minister, now taking charge of the higher education portfolio.
