J-Kom To Remain Under Ministry Of Communications, DNB To Be Determined

In the recent Cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the community communications department (J-Kom), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) will continue to fall under the purview of the Ministry of Communications.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that other agencies under his ministry include the information department, the national news agency Bernama, and the Tun Abdul Razak Institute of Broadcasting and Information.

This decision follows the split of Fahmi Fadzil’s previous ministry, known as the communications and digital ministry, into two separate entities. The other part, the digital ministry, is led by Gobind Singh Deo.

Speaking at a press conference, Fahmi outlined the agencies now under his ministry, emphasising the strategic placement of J-Kom, Bernama, IPPTAR, JaPen, Jabatan Penyiaran, Finas, MCMC, and MyCreative Ventures.

On the digital front, the Ministry of Digital will oversee MDEC, MYNIC, and the Department of Personal Data Protection.

Meanwhile the status of DNB (Digital Nasional Berhad) remains under discussion, Fahmi added.
