MM2H Service Counter Opens At MOTAC Headquarters

The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program’s service counter at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) headquarters has commenced operations, according to an announcement by MOTAC today.

The operation of this counter on Level 1 of the ministry follows the conclusion of the notice of the MM2H center’s operation at the Immigration Department (JIM) on December 15, 2023.

MOTAC stated in a press release that the counter services involve processes such as passport renewal, passport transfer, issuance of special passes for cases pending decisions, and other daily transactions related to existing MM2H passport holders.

“New applications based on the latest terms will be determined as soon as possible,” MOTAC stated. The service counter operates from 8 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, it operates from 8 am to 12:15 pm before reopening from 2:45 pm to 5 pm. The counter remains closed on weekends and public holidays.

MOTAC emphasized that all application procedures must go through registered MM2H agents.

“MOTAC is always committed to improving customer service counter services and strengthening the MM2H program to contribute to the country’s economy and promote Malaysia internationally,” they stated.

According to Bernama, the MM2H program, introduced in 2002, allows foreigners to purchase property and reside in Malaysia for an extended period. The program was temporarily suspended in August 2020 to allow the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) and MOTAC to comprehensively review the program. Since October 2021, new MM2H applications have been handled by JIM, covering processing matters related to existing applications and logistics.
