Astro Malaysia’s Chief Financial Officer To Resign

Astro Malaysia has informed that its Chief Financial Officer, Shafiq Abdul Jabbar will be leaving the group effective January 1 2024.

He joined the Group in 2017 as Group Chief Financial Officer and spearheads the finance and risk management functions across the group and also oversees data to streamline utilisation and monetisation of all data across our Group.

Prior to joining Astro, he was the Group Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer (Malaysia) of CIMB Bank Berhad. Before joining CIMB, he was Executive Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a role he held having advanced from managerial positions in its Kuala Lumpur and London offices, where he provided assurance and advisory services to key clients listed on Bursa Malaysia and FTSE 100.

The group has also announced the appointment of Dr. Grace Lee who will be rejoining and taking over as the Group Chief Operating Officer.

She came back to Astro in 2023 as COO and was the Chief Financial Officer of Aeon Co. (M) Berhad. Before joining Aeon, she had served Astro from 2002 until 2021 and held several roles which included Head of Process Improvement, Group Financial Controller, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Executive Officer of Go Shop and Group Transformation Officer
