AirAsia Launches New Route, From Kuala Lumpur To Ahmedabad

AirAsia has announced a new route connecting Kuala Lumpur to Ahmedabad, India. Scheduled to take off on 1 May 2024, this venture marks AirAsia’s eleventh route to India and is the third addition in 2024 alone.

Also known as Amdavad, Ahmedabad stands as a testament to history with its rich cultural heritage and ancient architecture dating back to the 15th century. Renowned for its textile industry, serene lakes, and vibrant markets, the city offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

In celebration of the upcoming launch, AirAsia is rolling out a one-off promotional fare starting from RM209 for flights from Kuala Lumpur and INR7,999* for those departing from Ahmedabad to Kuala Lumpur. This special offer is open for bookings from now until 28 January 2024, with travel dates available from 1 May 2024 to 19 March 2025.

AirAsia Aviation Group CEO, Bo Lingam expressed his enthusiasm for this new venture, underscoring the allure of Ahmedabad with its rich traditions, heritage, and diverse attractions. Lingam emphasised AirAsia’s unwavering commitment to enhancing affordable connectivity between Malaysia and India.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce yet another venture of AirAsia into Incredible India to the beautiful Ahmedabad  ‒ with many more to follow suit ‒ as we continue to celebrate the commendable initiative by the Malaysian government for the visa-free entry into Malaysia for Indian nationals. A city that is steeped in deeply-rooted traditions and heritage, Ahmedabad has something for everyone and I’m certain this route will be well received by travellers who are looking to sightsee its magnificent architecture or simply immerse themselves in the rich, local culture.” he said.

“When we launched our very first flight into India in 2008, our vision and mission had always been to enhance affordable connectivity between our two nations. Both Malaysia and India have plenty of untapped tourism potential and it has been amazing to see how travel has boomed in both countries in the last decade. AirAsia will continue to broaden our horizons of connectivity, which undoubtedly will encourage and allow for more people to travel to various unexplored gems of India affordably.” he added.

As part of a broader strategy, AirAsia already operates direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to various Indian cities. The addition of the Ahmedabad route follows closely on the heels of the airline’s plans to launch flights to Thiruvananthapuram in February 2024, making it the second direct route to the state of Kerala after Kochi.

AirAsia is also offering Fly-Thru options, providing guests traveling from India to Malaysia the opportunity to utilize Kuala Lumpur as a connecting hub. This opens up access to AirAsia’s extensive network, spanning more than 130 destinations across 22 countries.

AirAsia’s strategic expansion into India underscores its commitment to fostering affordable connectivity and unlocking the untapped tourism potential between Malaysia and India.
