In a heartfelt display of unity and respect, various leaders of Malaysia’s tech community, comprising mainly from the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) Council, convened yesterday evening in a remarkable celebration at the Namaste India TTDI restaurant in Kuala Lumpur.
The event was dedicated to honouring the birthday and acknowledging the monumental contributions of Gopi Ganesalingam, the esteemed Senior Vice President of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), for his tireless efforts to continue growing and nurturing Malaysia’s Digital Economy
PIKOM Chairman Ong Chin Seong (centre left in pic below with Gopi at centre right) said that, due to the fast pace nature of the tech sphere, it is rare to pause and celebrate collective milestones. “Yet, tonight was an exception – a memorable gathering to honour Gopi and his various achievements for Malaysia.”
“Gopi’s crucial involvement has reshaped the industry landscape significantly, setting new benchmarks for innovation and elevating the overall industry toward unprecedented heights of success and recognition,” said Ong. “His dedication to nurturing collaborations between government and industry stands as a testament to his vision of a vigorous and flourishing Malaysian Digital Economy.”
Meanwhile PIKOM Vice Chairman Alex Liew (far left in pic below – with PIKOM Advisor Ganesh Kumar Bangah at far right) commended Gopi for his relentless pursuit of excellence and his unwavering dedication to the nation.
“Gopi’s relentless endeavours serve as the cornerstone of our journey towards a future steeped in digital innovation,” said Liew. “His patriotic zeal and relentless pursuit of excellence ensure that every step we take is a move in the right direction for Malaysia’s prosperity.”
Overwhelmed with emotion and visibly touched by the profound tributes, Gopi addressed the room with a poise and humility that captivated those gathered around him. His words, sincere and heartfelt, reflected the sentiment of the evening, creating a moment of profound connection.
“My endeavours, each endeavour, is a tribute to our beloved nation,” Gopi said, his tone imbued with a deep-seated dedication and an unshakeable resolve that emphasised his every word.
He paused, gathering his thoughts, before sharing a deeply personal memory.
“Standing by my father’s side after he passed away, I recalled what he had told me – and his words still resonate in my heart to this very day.
“My late father told me this: ‘Son, I love you with all my heart. Dedicate your efforts to the betterment of Malaysia, do it for the country,’” shared Gopi.
His voice, steady yet filled with emotion, conveyed the weight of this legacy, a guiding principle that continues to shape his path and purpose in life.
