FedEx Nurtures Underprivileged Communities With Over 200 Kilograms Of Donated Goods

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., has spread joy and support by engaging over 2,200 team members across the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) region in a charitable initiative. The team members collectively gathered more than 8,000 kilograms of essential supplies for over 30 non-profit organisations (NGOs) in the region.

In Malaysia, the Purple Tote Campaign, conducted as part of the annual FedEx Cares program, focused on supporting local NGOs Kechara Soup Kitchen and Shelter Home for Children.

FedEx team members passionately collected around 200 kilograms of packaged food and essential items, including instant noodles, oats, biscuits, mosquito coils, and adult diapers. These items were then donated to homeless and marginalised communities.

The FedEx Cares Purple Tote Campaign, held from October to December 2023, aimed to empower team members to actively contribute to NGOs they cherish in their local communities.

FedEx volunteers from 18 markets, including Malaysia, Australia, China, India, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates, participated in the initiative.

Teams of varying sizes collaborated across the region, working with their chosen charities to collect and distribute essential goods using FedEx Cares purple tote bags.

Over 2,400 beneficiaries, including young children, the elderly, and underserved groups, received the donated items from FedEx team members.

FedEx Express President of the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) region, Kawal Preet expressed the significance of these acts of kindness, stating, “Every action that improves our world, no matter how small, is something extraordinary. These individual donations under our FedEx Cares program have created new opportunities for our team members to multiply the positive impact FedEx makes in the local communities where we live and work.”

FedEx Express Malaysia Managing Director Tien Long Woon emphasised the company’s commitment to positively impacting local communities.

He stated, “With surging costs of living, especially in the urban areas of Malaysia in recent years, we hope initiatives such as this can go a long way towards supporting our purpose of connecting people and possibilities.”

As part of the broader FedEx Cares initiative, team members globally are encouraged to ‘Drive forward. Give back’ by volunteering and participating in acts of caring throughout the year. This initiative aligns with FedEx’s commitment to community service, sustainability, and making a positive difference in the world.
