Honda Malaysia’s Decade As No.1 In Non-National Passenger Vehicles, Surpasses 80K Units In 2023 Sale

Honda Malaysia announced its monumental achievement of retaining the No.1 position in the Non-National Passenger Vehicle Segment for an impressive ten consecutive years, marking a decade of dominance in the Malaysian automotive landscape. With a record-breaking sales performance in 2023, the company surpassed its annual target by recording over 80,000 units in total sales.

The resilience of Honda Malaysia in a competitive market was evident as the company faced challenges in 2023. The success can be attributed to the introduction of four new models in the second half of the year, namely the WR-V, City, Civic Type R, and All-New CR-V, showcasing Honda’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.

The top-selling models of 2023 – City, HR-V, and City Hatchback – played pivotal roles, contributing 30%, 25%, and 13% respectively to Honda Malaysia’s overall sales.

Furthermore, the WR-V, HR-V, CR-V, and Civic clinched the No.1 position in their respective segments, solidifying Honda’s reputation for delivering vehicles that resonate with Malaysian consumers.

Honda Malaysia CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura acknowledged the challenging market conditions in 2023. He credited the success to the robust support from dealers and the Malaysian Government, expressing gratitude to Honda customers for their unwavering loyalty and support.

Other standout contributors to Honda Malaysia’s success in 2023 was the launch of the WR-V in July. The small SUV quickly became an icon, with the RS variant leading the pack, accounting for an impressive 60% of total sales.

The WR-V achieved a remarkable milestone by selling over 7,800 units within the first six months of its launch, underscoring its popularity among Malaysian consumers.

Honda Malaysia also witnessed significant growth in hybrid sales, particularly with its e:HEV models. The sales for these eco-friendly models increased from over 4,100 units in 2022 to surpassing 7,700 units in 2023, representing an outstanding 187% growth.

In a significant contribution to Malaysia’s shift towards sustainable mobility, Honda’s e:HEV models accounted for 28% of the overall hybrid sales in the country.

Committed to delivering excellence in product offerings, sales, and after-sales services, Honda Malaysia remains optimistic about the automotive sector in 2024.

With a track record of innovation, customer-centricity, and a strong market presence, Honda is poised to continue its legacy as a driving force in the Malaysian automotive industry.

The year 2023 not only signifies a decade of dominance but also sets the stage for a future filled with exciting prospects for Honda Malaysia.
