YTL Stocks Lift Bursa Higher At Midday

Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session firmer on Friday, with the key index staying above the 1,500-point mark, supported by buying of heavyweights led by YTL Corp Bhd and YTL Power International Bhd.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI had gained 3.93 points to 1,508.03, from Wednesday’s (Jan 24) close at 1,504.1.

The barometer index, which opened 0.65 of a point easier at 1,503.45, moved between 1,502.89 and 1,508.94 throughout the morning session. 

YTL Corp rose six sen or 2.53% to RM2.43, while YTL Power International bagged seven sen to RM3.98. The two stocks contributed 2.033 points to the gain in the composite index.

Market breadth remained positive, with gainers trouncing losers 557 to 398, while 417 counters were unchanged, 925 untraded, and 49 others suspended.

Turnover amounted to 2.85 billion units worth RM1.71 billion, Bernama reported.
