FTD 2024 Puts Spotlight On Welfare And Well-being Initiatives For The B40, Says Dr Zaliha

As the Federal Territories Day (FTD) 2024 approaches, the theme ‘Wilayah MADANI, Rakyat Harmoni’ takes center stage, emphasising ongoing welfare and well-being programs aimed at uplifting the B40 and underprivileged communities in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa shared insights into the FTD 2024 celebration, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Federal Territories and the 28th anniversary of Putrajaya Corporation (PPj). The event will kick off at Dataran Putrajaya from February 1 to 4, in conjunction with the Putrajaya Open Day 2024 (POD 2024) program.

Dr Zaliha expressed her invitation to all Malaysians to participate in POD 2024, emphasising that the collaborative effort between Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) and the Federal Territories Department (JWP) aims to streamline government services, making them easily accessible to the public.

“I invite all Malaysians to attend POD 2024 because we are providing a service delivery system not only from PPj but all ministries, public agencies, banking, telcos, real estate and others under one roof. In addition, various interesting side events are also organised in conjunction with the two celebrations,” she told Bernama.

She outlined the significance of FTD 2024, stating that it focuses on six core areas: Recognition, Scientific and Educational, Entrepreneurship, Community, Arts and Culture, and Sports.

The theme ‘Wilayah MADANI, Rakyat Harmoni’ reflects a commitment to social justice and continuous efforts to improve the quality of life for the B40 and impoverished citizens.

“The celebration of FTD 2024 and the implementation of the Federal Territories’ 50th-anniversary program embody a people-friendly concept, involving participation from various races and walks of life. It aligns with Malaysia MADANI’s aspiration, reflecting the value of ‘Ihsan’ (compassion),” Dr Zaliha remarked.

She highlighted that the celebration could strengthen the image of JWP as an organiSation dedicated to monitoring the development of the Federal Territories.

The Federal Territories’ 50th Anniversary program is set to continue until December, featuring various community-oriented activities aimed at fostering a spirit of patriotism and love for the Federal Territories.

Among the initiatives are programs like Wacana Ilmu Malaysia MADANI 50WP, Sahabat 50WP, Paint by Numbers Canvas WP, Gemuruh 50WP, and more.

These activities seek to instill and strengthen the spirit of patriotism while portraying the image of the residents as harmonious, caring, progressive, and prosperous.

Federal Territories Day, celebrated on February 1 every year, commemorates the declaration of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan as Federal Territories.

This year marks the 20th celebration since its introduction in 2004, and the themed festivities underscore a commitment to the welfare and well-being of the less privileged in the region.
