Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak has been appointed as the new chairman of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Rakyat), effective immediately. This decision, announced by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop), reflects confidence in Mohd Irwan’s leadership qualities and extensive experience.
Having served as the acting chairman since November 1, 2022, Mohd Irwan’s elevation to the chairman’s role is based on his remarkable contributions during this period. Kuskop expressed confidence in his qualifications and credibility to uphold the responsibilities, aligning with Bank Rakyat’s mission and vision. This strategic appointment is seen as crucial in supporting the cooperative and entrepreneurial ecosystem, aligning with Malaysia MADANI’s aspirations.
Mohd Irwan, who joined the board of Bank Rakyat on July 24, 2020, brings over 21 years of experience in litigation, corporate and company law, and compliance management to his new role. His expertise is expected to play a pivotal role in steering Bank Rakyat towards sustainable growth.
Bank Rakyat’s CEO, Datuk Mohammad Hanis Osman, welcomed Mohd Irwan’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience. Osman expressed confidence that, under Mohd Irwan’s leadership, the bank would successfully implement the 2024 Business Plan and the long-term Strategic Plan, ensuring sustainable performance and an enhanced customer experience.
