Selangor Encourages Home Owners To Settle 2024 Assessment Tax Via App Before End Feb

The Local Authorities (PBT) in Selangor have rolled out an innovative assessment tax payment campaign for the year 2024. Led by the Selangor State Government’s Smart Governance initiative, this campaign marked a significant shift towards digitisation in public service transactions. The campaign’s focal point lies in the introduction of online payment options for assessment tax, aligning seamlessly with the Smart Selangor plan. Commencing in December 2023, the campaign targets the first installment of assessment tax payment, spanning from January to June, with a payment deadline set on February 29th.

Recognising the importance of adapting to the digital age, the Selangor State Government has been proactive in digitising services provided by state government and associated agencies since 2022. This move aimed to reduce physical transactions at payment counters, particularly in light of the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

The implementation of online assessment tax payment services emerges as a pivotal aspect of these smart governance initiatives. Most notably, the development of the Citizen-E Payment (CEPat) application by SSDU Innovations Sdn. Bhd. revolutionises the landscape of service transactions in Selangor.

CEPat serves as a comprehensive platform for state government service payments, offering a range of services accessible at residents’ fingertips. From assessment tax, land tax, and parcel tax payments to utilities, license renewals, and facility rentals, the application streamlines the payment process for various public services.

With CEPat, residents are no longer required to physically visit PBT counters to settle their assessment tax payments. Instead, they can simply download the application from the App Store for Apple users or Google Play for Android users, register as users, and commence making payments for desired services.

The introduction of online payment options and the CEPat application exemplifies Selangor’s commitment to embracing technological advancements and fostering greater convenience for its residents. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, initiatives like these pave the way for a more efficient and user-friendly public service experience.

The assessment tax payment campaign for the year 2024 is now actively conducted by the Local Authorities (PBT) in Selangor. In Selangor specifically, it is widely known that one of the main thrusts of the Smart Selangor plan is Smart Governance. Under this thrust, the Selangor State Government has formulated several initiatives towards digitizing services and services provided by state government and involved agencies. Online assessment tax payment services are one of the smart governance initiatives that have been developed. Starting in 2022, the Selangor State Government and PBTs gradually aimed to reduce physical transactions at payment counters, especially with the adverse impact of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 affecting various layers of society. This initiative has been well received by all PBTs in Selangor, where in 2024, most PBTs have begun to cease physical payment counter operations and replaced them with online services.

The increased use of smartphones among the community today has also contributed to the trend of online payments. SSDU Innovations Sdn. Bhd; (SSDU) has developed the Citizen-E Payment (CEPat) application as an online payment alternative for the public in Selangor.
