Tourism Malaysia Woo India Visitors From Satte

Tourism Malaysia is actively engaging with Indian travelers at the South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE) in Delhi NCR, marking its 20th participation in the event. Over three days, from February 22nd to 24th, the focus remains on reinforcing Malaysia’s position as the preferred destination among Indian tourists.

Emphasising niche products, Tourism Malaysia spotlighted various lifestyle segments including shopping, golfing, luxury tourism, soft tourism, theme parks, and honeymoon packages. Additionally, emerging segments like weddings and film-induced tourism are being promoted, offering Indian travelers diverse experiences in Malaysia.

The delegation, led by Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia New Delhi Office, Muhammad Akmal Hafiz Abdul Aziz, included 45 organizations representing tour agents, hotel and resort operators, tourism product owners, airline operators, Tourism Selangor, and Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).

In addition to SATTE, Tourism Malaysia has been actively promoting in the Indian market through various initiatives. These include the Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival, participation in the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2024, and a recent roadshow campaign across major Indian cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Calcutta, and Ahmedabad.

Highlighting India’s significance as a priority market, Akmal Hafiz stressed the strong economic and cultural ties between the two nations. India ranked as Malaysia’s fifth largest source of tourists, with 587,703 Indian visitors recorded between January and November 2023.

Tourism Malaysia also leveraged the announcement of the visa-free policy for Indian tourists until December 31, 2024, and promoting Visit Malaysia 2026 to encourage more Indian travelers to explore Malaysia’s diverse offerings. With 181 weekly flights connecting India and Malaysia, accessibility remains convenient through airlines like Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, and IndiGo.
