Malaysian Healthcare Players Gain Exposure At SEACare 2024

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is on a mission to harness current market trends and bolster export prospects for Malaysia’s healthcare sector across Southeast Asia. In a bid to achieve this goal, MATRADE has thrown its weight behind the Southeast Asian Healthcare and Pharma Show (SEACare 2024), slated to occur from April 17 to 19, 2024, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

SEACare 2024 serves as a prime opportunity for local healthcare sector players to elevate their brand recognition and effectively market their products and services to the Southeast Asian market. The event serves as a platform for companies to showcase their dedication to innovation, quality, and sustainability, thereby enhancing their reputation and competitive edge in the region.

MATRADE’s collaboration with SEACare 2024 includes the International Sourcing Programme (INSP), meticulously designed to connect local companies with international buyers. Leveraging its network of 49 overseas offices, MATRADE aims to facilitate meetings between approximately 20 international buyers from the healthcare sector and local suppliers. This initiative seeks to foster networking opportunities, cultivate robust business relationships, and drive collaboration and innovation within the industry.

Malaysia’s healthcare sector has been experiencing steady growth, with medical devices exports reaching RM28.1 billion in 2023, particularly from medical instruments and consumables. The New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) has identified medical devices and pharmaceuticals as priority sectors for development, underlining their importance in Malaysia’s economic landscape.

According to MATRADE CEO, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, Malaysia’s healthcare sector plays a crucial role in connecting communities and propelling the nation’s advancements. He highlighted Malaysia’s emergence as a regional healthcare hub, citing state-of-the-art medical devices manufacturing facilities and accessible, high-quality pharmaceutical products. Additionally, Malaysia’s infrastructure, coupled with specialized medical treatments and affordable fees, makes it an attractive destination for medical tourism.

MATRADE is committed to advancing export opportunities for Malaysia’s healthcare sector across Southeast Asia through digitalization, sustainability practices, and Halal certification. The agency’s dedication is evident through a range of dynamic activities such as impactful trade missions, business matching sessions, and insightful industry seminars. MATRADE also forges strategic partnerships with industry leaders, enabling targeted promotional campaigns and fostering networking opportunities.

Local healthcare players are urged to capitalize on the opportunity presented by SEACare 2024 to showcase their offerings and expand their reach. Industry leaders and stakeholders are also encouraged to stay informed about the latest trends and developments in medical devices and pharmaceuticals through the comprehensive range of conferences and seminars offered at the event. SEACare 2024 promises to be a platform for collaboration, innovation, and growth, positioning Malaysian healthcare players for success in the region and beyond.
