The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has taken decisive action against umrah package operator Emraz Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd by revoking its licence effective March 11, citing violations of the Tourism Industry Act 1992.

Motac stated that the company breached licence conditions and provisions of Act 482, operating in a manner detrimental to the public interest, tourism industry, and national economy.

Since November last year, numerous reports of umrah package fraud involving Emraz Travel & Tours have been lodged with the police. Subsequently, the company’s two directors, a married couple, have been prosecuted in connection with the allegations.
