Product market fit is key for entrepreneurs to achieve sustainable success as it is the intersection where successful products meet actual market demands.
Commerce.Asia Executive Director Ganesh Kumar Bangah (second left in pic), who has become synonymous with being the ‘Bill Gates of Malaysia’ and one of Malaysia’s most successful serial entrepreneurs, said that entrepreneurs must navigate this critical juncture carefully by understanding their target audience deeply and aligning their products to meet those specific needs.
“It is akin to product innovation being more than just invention – rather, it is the intersection of invention and insight to ensure that the product not only fulfils a need but does so in a way that is truly valuable to the consumer,” said Ganesh. “This insight requires entrepreneurs to be acutely observant and responsive to the target market, customer feedback, market trends and the competitive landscape.”
He added that this alignment ensures that the product not only satisfies but also resonates with customers, thereby nurturing loyalty and facilitating growth.
Ganesh was speaking as a panellist at the recent Startup Day Malaysia 2024 organised by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Endeavor Malaysia.
Other participants at the panel discussion entitled ‘Driving Exponential SaaS Growth within & beyond Malaysia’ were Safetruck CTO & Founder Yin Yin Low, Respond.io CEO and Founder Gerardo Salandra and Salesflo CEO Yasir Suleman Menon. The session was brilliantly moderated by AWS Marketplace Malaysia Senior Customer Advisor ZiYan Boo, coupled with the strong backing of his AWS colleagues, ASEAN Head of Startup Marketing Eunice Chang and Startup Account Manager Pang Pei Yi, as well as Endeavor Malaysia Senior Strategy Associate Idzuan Shah Anuar.
The panel unanimously agreed that two essential factors are critical for startups to achieve exponential success: maintaining a clear focus and integrating sophisticated AI to enhance the value of data. This approach not only increases customer value but also further enhances the overall end-value.
“These factors eventually converge to create a compelling value proposition, a claim substantiated by real-world success,” shared Ganesh, adding that CommerceAsia subsidiary SiteGiant exemplifies such success with its superior marketplace integration strategy.
“As one of Malaysia’s leading e-commerce players, SiteGiant efficiently synchronises with over 30 local and international marketplaces, significantly enhancing operational efficiencies and market reach for its valued clients. This success is all thanks to SiteGiant CEO Stanley Lim and team for their visionary approach, which was way ahead of its time,” emphasised Ganesh.
SiteGiant is also an example of a local startup which had leveraged on the AWS cloud platform to achieve scalability and robustness, adapting swiftly to market changes and customer demands.
This technological backbone, provided by AWS, in turn enabled SiteGiant to deploy new features rapidly and handle significant increases in traffic, especially during peak sales periods.
“Using AWS cloud services has empowered SiteGiant to focus on what it does best — delivering seamless e-commerce solutions — while leaving the heavy lifting of managing infrastructure to the experts.”
