Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre or better known as MITEC has been named Asia’s Best Convention Centre 2023 and Malaysia’s Best Convention Centre at the 4th Annual World MICE Awards (WMA) Gala Ceremony.
Owned by Malaysia’s national Trade Promotion Agency, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MITEC made history as the first purpose-built venue in Malaysia for meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and lifestyle events to secure the esteemed title of Asia’s Best Convention Centre by WMA. Notable past recipients of this award include Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre (2022) and Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre (2020 and 2021).
The centre also holds the distinction of being the exclusive venue in Malaysia to win both the World Travel Awards for World’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre as well as Asia’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre in 2023, bringing its total international accolades for the year to four.
Accepting these accolades were Winnee Lim, MITEC’s General Manager of Business Development, and Jessie Tan, Managing Director of Qube Integrated Malaysia – the venue management entity of MITEC.
Lim expressed gratitude, stating, “We are honoured to receive the titles of Malaysia’s Best Convention Centre 2023 and Asia’s Best Convention Centre 2023. These awards signify our unwavering dedication to a purposeful and sustainable approach to managing MITEC. The recognition fuels our determination to continuously enhance our services to meet the diverse needs of organisers, delegates, and visitors.”
Tan added, “With increasing international recognition, MITEC is set to attract larger trade and business events to Malaysia. This not only boosts the country’s economy but also fosters collaboration and business growth, creating a vibrant platform for exchange.”
Boasting an expansive 52,000 sqm of exhibition and convention space, MITEC stands as Malaysia’s premier trade and exhibition centre. The year 2023 marked a significant milestone for MITEC with over 160 events hosted and more than 3 million visitors welcomed post-COVID-19 pandemic reopening, solidifying its position as a bustling hub of activity.
