IHG Hotels & Resorts, a global hospitality company, has reached a significant milestone with the opening of its 1,012th hotel in Asia Pacific (APAC), marking a momentous achievement as it continues to expand its presence across the region.

Over the past year, IHG has welcomed guests at several outstanding new properties in APAC, including notable openings across its renowned brands such as Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Regent Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Vignette Collection, voco hotels, and Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts.

With the anticipation of increased demand for hotel stays in the coming years and robust projected long-term growth, IHG aims to solidify its position as the preferred hotel company for guests and owners across its diverse portfolio of properties in both established and emerging destinations.

IHG Hotels & Resorts, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific (EAPAC), Rajit Sukumaran said, “To reach 1,000 open hotels in Asia Pacific, including over 700 in Greater China, is a remarkable achievement for IHG in one of the most dynamic regions globally. We are capitalising on the significant long-term opportunities by investing in our brands, delivering excellent returns for our owners, and driving growth across our markets.”

Recognising the fundamental desire of people to travel and meet in person, Sukumaran emphasised IHG’s commitment to offering a diverse selection of hotel brands and experiences for all types of travel.

He highlighted IHG’s industry-leading position in the mainstream segment, particularly with its beloved Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands, which constitute more than half of IHG’s existing portfolio and pipeline in APAC.

Moreover, IHG is investing in its six Luxury & Lifestyle brands, which now account for 22% of its global pipeline, demonstrating a significant increase over the past five years.

The region boasts a strong presence in this segment, with 45% of the global Luxury & Lifestyle pipeline in APAC, including iconic award-winning hotels under brands such as Six Senses and Regent.

Sukumaran also underscored IHG’s focus on conversions, with 36% of its global signings in conversions, and the introduction of Garner, its new midscale conversion brand.

Additionally, IHG is positioned to capitalise on the rapid growth in passenger traffic and demand for hotel stays in APAC, supported by an expanding pipeline of 705 hotels across 13 brands in 22 countries, including 9 hotels in the pipeline for Malaysia.

With the IHG One Rewards loyalty program rapidly growing to over 130 million members worldwide, IHG aims to provide leisure travelers with the opportunity to explore upcoming destinations while catering to the increasing demand for business travel bookings, including groups and meetings.

Looking ahead, Sukumaran expressed optimism about IHG’s future in APAC, citing strong owner appetite for continued investment in the hospitality industry and a robust construction pipeline across the region.

He added, “We’re excited about our prospects in APAC over the next decade as we expand our presence in established and emerging markets, delivering exceptional experiences for travelers of today and tomorrow.”
