Malaysia To Showcase SMEs At 19th CISMEF

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, the CISMEF Bureau, and Quantum Atlas Sdn Bhd, is set to lead Malaysia’s participation at the 19th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF). The event will take place at the China Import & Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, China, from June 27th to 30th, 2024.

CISMEF stands as the largest and most influential SME fair in China, approved by the State Council of China to foster the development of SMEs.

It serves as a pivotal platform for showcasing trade exchanges and cooperation between SMEs domestically and internationally.

With a successful history spanning 18 sessions since its inception in 2004, this year marks the 19th edition of the exhibition.

In 2023, the event attracted participation from over 40 countries and welcomed more than 100,000 public and trade visitors.

Notably, exhibitors at CISMEF 2023 secured deals exceeding RMB 10 billion in various sectors, including procurement, financing, industrial collaborations, and investment agreements.

The targeted sectors for Malaysia’s Pavilion at CISMEF include Intelligent Manufacturing, Food and Beverage, Halal Products and Services, Fashion, Tourism, Craft & Gifts, and Business Services such as marketing, legal, financial, and advisory services.

To support Malaysian companies’ participation in the event, a comprehensive promotion campaign will be implemented by CISMEF’s organiser and Quantum Atlas Sdn Bhd. The campaign will encompass promotion activities across social media platforms such as TikTok, WeChat, and live streaming by Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), in addition to conventional media promotion.

Malaysia’s involvement in CISMEF is part of a series of over 50 programs organised to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC). MATRADE, appointed by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) as the implementing agency for the Economic Pillar, spearheads this initiative. As part of the anniversary celebration, Malaysia has been honored as the co-host country for CISMEF 2024.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974, Malaysia-PRC bilateral trade relations have flourished, with PRC consistently being Malaysia’s largest trading partner since 2009.

In 2023, PRC accounted for 17.1% of Malaysia’s total trade, amounting to RM 450.84 billion (USD 98.80 billion). Notably, Malaysia’s exports to PRC have grown by 98.07% over the past decade, with PRC ranking as Malaysia’s second-largest export destination last year.

Quantum Atlas Sdn Bhd, appointed as the official agent and event manager for the Malaysia Pavilion at CISMEF 2024, and MATRADE, as the collaboration partner, extend a warm invitation to Malaysian companies and organisations to participate in this prestigious exhibition. It serves as an opportunity to introduce, promote, and enhance their brand presence in China.
