The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) has recently expanded its Malaysia Trade Commissioner’s office in Paris to strengthen trade relations with France, Spain, Portugal, and Monaco.

Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, highlighted the significance of this expansion, emphasising Malaysia’s commitment to increasing international trade.

He noted that France, in particular, emerged as Malaysia’s third-largest trading partner within the European Union in 2023, with bilateral trade reaching €3.41 billion (approximately RM17.5 billion).

“The expansion of the Matrade Paris office signifies Malaysia’s dedication to fostering closer ties with industry players in the countries under its jurisdiction,” said Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

The enhanced presence of Matrade in Paris is expected to facilitate greater collaboration between Malaysian companies and their counterparts in France, Spain, Portugal, and Monaco.
