Two Brewery Counters Soar On Price Increase Announcement Beginning April 1st

The beer prices of Carlsberg Malaysia and Heineken Malaysia will increase from April 1 which has resulted in the rise of both stock counters since the opening of the Bursa Malaysia this morning.

Qiu Guoming, chairman of the Petaling Jaya Coffee, Wine and Restaurant Merchants Association, confirmed that CarIsberg, the two largest domestic beer brands, and Heineken, a subsidiary of Heineken Malaysia, will increase prices across the board from April 1, by about 5% or about RM1 per bottle.

Buoyed by this news, the two listed brewers were welcomed by investors as soon as the market opened today (Mar 29), ranking first and second in the list of listed stocks on the Bursa Malaysia.

Carlsberg Malaysia once rose 32 sen to RM18.70, while Heineken Malaysia rose as much as 38 sen to RM23.90.
