Malaysia To Unveil National Human Resource Framework On 1 May

The Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim, announced that the National Human Resource Framework is scheduled to debut during the Labor Day celebration 2024 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on May 1.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officiate the launch of the framework, designed to guide the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR) and the government in implementing human capital development programs across Malaysia.

Sim highlighted that the inaugural National Human Resource Framework aims to address existing gaps and disparities in current policy documents.

He emphasised its significance in tackling issues such as the aging society agenda, the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the promotion of a green economy, and the enhancement of women’s participation in the workforce.

Following the pre-launch event today, Sim elaborated on the upcoming Labor Day 2024 celebration, where MOHR will introduce new branding and commit to the 3K principles: Welfare, Skills, and Worker Success.

This year’s celebration will witness the participation of over 3,000 workers from unions, statutory bodies, the public, and private sectors. The Prime Minister will present several Labor Day Awards during the event to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of workers to national development.

Sim also revealed several enhancements for this year’s celebration, including 18 accompanying programs commencing with the ‘Pocket Talk’ session. These programs aim to facilitate discussions on worker-related issues in Putrajaya, Selangor, Johor Bharu, and Penang.

Additionally, MOHR has introduced two new categories of worker awards: the Public Sector Worker Icon and the Media Icon Award for individuals. Notably, the cash prize for Labor Day awards has been standardized to RM10,000 for all recipients, regardless of team or individual categories. The total cash prize for the Labor Day Awards has been raised from RM75,000 last year to RM120,000 this year.

Sim concluded by announcing that this year’s Labor Day celebration will revolve around the theme “KESUMA Workers Nation”, underscoring the importance of the nation’s workforce in achieving collective prosperity.
