Finance Minister II Leads Delegation To 28th AFMM On ASEAN’s Financial Cooperation

Minister of Finance II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has led the Malaysian delegation to the 28th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting (AFMM), and a host of high-level meetings to deliberate on ASEAN’s financial cooperation.

Aside from the AFMM,  the 11th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting Governors’ Meeting – AFMGM) as well as related meetings held in Luang Prabang, Lao People’s Democratic Republic from 3 – 5 April 2024, will look into the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund (ASEAN Infrastructure Fund – AIF) under the Infrastructure Financing agenda, Insurance Cooperation, Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance (DRFI), Customs Integration, ASEAN Single Window, Insurance Regulation, Prevention of Money Laundering and Prevention of Terrorist Financing and the ASEAN Taxation Forum.

Amir Hamzah was also involved in monitoring the performance of the Roadmap for Monetary and Financial Integration of ASEAN (RIA-Fin) including Capital Account Liberalization, Capital Market Development, Financial Services Liberalization, Banking Integration , Payment and Settlement Systems and Financial Inclusion.

In addition, he also informed in the meeting about the agenda and main focus of the ASEAN Finance Ministers Meeting and the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting and further invited the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Dialogue Partners to attend during the ASEAN-Malaysia chairmanship on year 2025.

These meetings were also attended by the Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Datuk Shaik Abdul Rasheed Abdul Ghaffour, a statement released by the Ministry of Finance today (Apr 3) said.
