Alphabet & Google Optimistic On Expansion Into Malaysia: PM

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a virtual conference with the President & Chief Investment Officer of the tech giant Alphabet & Google, Ruth Porat today (May 6).

This session was a follow-up to their meeting in the United States last year.

Discussions surrounded the progress of the blueprint of areas that Alphabet & Google can expand in Malaysia based on the Anwar’s previous explanation to her regarding Malaysia’s mission and focus of the Malaysian Government.

Alphabet & Google greatly welcomed the thought leadership, commitment and speed of facilitation provided by the Malaysian Government since the last meeting, Anwar said on a posting on X.

He said; “Our discussion also touched on the importance of cooperation and support of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) related to the education, health and agriculture sectors.

“I emphasised that these efforts must ultimately bring comprehensive economic and social benefits without leaving out any community or group, especially in terms of technological literacy.”

Hopefully this effort will bear fruit especially in launching the country’s technology transition planning and job creation in the near future, Anwar said.
