BJAK, the renowned online insurance aggregator, has reinforced its commitment to providing hassle-free road tax renewal services, as announced through its official social media platforms.

In a statement addressing recent developments, they emphasised that its road tax renewal service remains available to users, now offered entirely free of charge. This decision comes in response to recent remarks by the Road Transport Department (JPJ), aims to streamline the renewal process for motorists across Malaysia.

Previously, BJAK acknowledged that charges were being “passed on” to official JPJ providers. Notably, while many platforms levy fees ranging from RM3.00 to RM11.00 for similar services, BJAK has opted to make its renewal service accessible to all at no cost.

Addressing concerns highlighted by JPJ, BJAK acknowledged the need for improvements, particularly regarding discrepancies in road tax expiry dates reported by some customers. While asserting that their service operates smoothly, BJAK remained silent on the issue’s specifics.

Despite BJAK’s assertion of smooth operations, questions linger regarding its authorisation status.

JPJ, in their statement yesterday said that they have only authorised three external business partners—Pos Malaysia, MyEG, and Puspakom— to provide road tax renewal services. BJAK’s statement did not clarify whether it has obtained direct authorisation for its services.

BusinessToday has attempted to reach out to BJAK for comment on the authorisation issue, but as of now, no response has been received.
