BFood In The Red For Q1 Affected From Boycott, Disposes Jollibean Stake

Franchise owner of popular fast food chains, Starbucks and Kenny Rogers, Berjaya Food Berhad posted a lower revenue of RM138.65 million as compared to a revenue of RM265.85 million in the previous year’s corresponding quarter.

The Group incurred a pre-tax loss of RM33.16 million in the current quarter under review as compared to a pre-tax profit of RM25.39 million in the previous year’s corresponding quarter.

BFood said the significantly lower revenue and pre-tax loss incurred in the current quarter under review were primarily
attributed to the current sentiment in relation to the conflict in the Middle East.

For the 9-month period ended 31 March 2024, the Group reported a revenue of RM599.74 million and a pre-tax loss of RM44.65 million in contrast to the revenue of RM844.22 million and pre-tax profit of RM127.48 million recorded in the previous year corresponding period.

The drop in revenue and pre-tax loss was primarily attributed to the abovementioned reason and one-off loss arising from the disposal of the Group’s entity equity interest in Jollibean Foods Pte Ltd. Excluding the exceptional investment related expenses, the pre-tax loss would have been RM34.15 million in thecurrent period under review.
