CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) has issued an alert on potential phishing attacks following the recent global disruption involving cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.
In a statement, CSM advised users to verify communications and ensure they originate from official sources, warning against attempts that may masquerade as CrowdStrike or other trusted entities.
“Users and system administrators are advised to take precautionary measures such as blocking dangerous domains with proxies, filtering spam, and implementing robust security mechanisms,” CSM stated.
The organisation also urged local entities to prioritise verified local products for critical systems to enhance security.
CSM emphasised the importance of thoroughly testing software updates in simulated targeted environments to identify and address any initial issues.
Additionally, CSM reminded users to adhere to best practices and to always confirm the legitimacy of suspicious emails and links before clicking or downloading.
