Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) has declared an income distribution of 4.75 sen per unit for Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 – Wawasan (ASM 2 Wawasan) for the financial year ending 31 August 2024. The distribution will benefit 939,200 unitholders and involves a total payment of RM1.13 billion.
The income distribution will be automatically reinvested as additional units into the unitholders’ accounts on 1 September 2024. Transactions for ASM 2 Wawasan at ASNB branches and agents, including online and internet banking channels, will be temporarily suspended from 30-31 August 2024. Unitholders can resume transactions on the myASNB portal (www.myasnb.com.my) and via the myASNB mobile app on 1 September 2024. Transactions at any ASNB branch or agent nationwide will be available from 2 September 2024 onwards.
ASNB reported that the fund had generated a gross income of RM1.54 billion and recorded a net realised income of RM1.27 billion as of 26 August 2024. The income for ASM 2 Wawasan was derived from capital gains, dividends, and other income sources from both domestic and international investments.
Equities remained the primary income contributor for the fund, with international investments accounting for 48.0 per cent and domestic investments for 40.6 per cent of the fund’s gross income. The fund also benefitted from portfolio diversification into other asset classes, particularly real estate and private equity, which represent 8.6 per cent of the total net asset value.
The income distribution of 4.75 sen per unit translates to a total return of 4.75 per cent, significantly outperforming Maybank’s 12-Month Fixed Deposit benchmark, which stood at 2.71 per cent. This marks a 204-basis-point advantage for ASM 2 Wawasan.
The income distribution for ASM 2 Wawasan is calculated based on the average minimum monthly balance held throughout the financial year for the fund.
