Putrajaya has initiated a significant reshuffle of secretary-generals across multiple ministries, involving 12 key appointments and reassignments.
Chief Secretary to the Government, Shamsul Azri, announced the changes, which are set to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of the Public Service.
The new appointments and reassignments are as follows:
- Health Ministry: Suriani Ahmad (previously secretary-general of the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry)
- Works Ministry: Azman Ibrahim (formerly director-general of the Implementation Coordination Unit)
- Human Resources Ministry: Azman Mohd Yusof (previously secretary-general of the National Unity Ministry)
- Education Ministry: Ruji Ubi (previously secretary-general of the Home Ministry)
- Agriculture and Food Security Ministry: Isham Ishak (previously secretary-general of the Defence Ministry)
- National Unity Ministry: Hasnol Zam Zam (previously secretary-general of the Works Ministry)
- Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU): Indera Nik Nasarudin (previously secretary-general of the Education Ministry)
- Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry: Khairul Dzaimee Daud (previously secretary-general of the Human Resources Ministry)
- Home Ministry: Awang Alik Jeman (previously deputy secretary-general of the Prime Minister’s Department)
- Defence Ministry: Lokman Hakim Ali (previously secretary-general of the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry)
- Deputy Senior Secretary-General in Prime Minister’s Department: Abd Shukor Mahmood (previously deputy secretary-general)
- Director-General, Public-Private Partnership Unit in Prime Minister’s Department: Razman Abu Samah
These changes will take effect tomorrow, with Lokman Hakim and Isham starting their new roles on September 23.
Shamsul emphasised that the reshuffle aligns with the government’s objectives for Public Service Reforms, aiming for increased speed, agility, and dynamism in leadership.
He noted that the adjustments also respond to the new era of Public Service following the announcement of the Public Service Remuneration System by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
