In view of the latest statement issued by the local halal certification body, Jakim on restaurants frequented by muslims but do not have the official certification, the management of Johnny’s Restaurants and Black Canyon Malaysia have come out stating that although their restaurant has not yet been certified but said the raw materials including eggs, chicken and meat used are obtained from suppliers who have a halal certificate.
So does this constitute being Halal friendly?
The management further went on to state “Johnny’s Restaurant and Black Canyon gives full confidence to its customers that no alcohol or wine is used in the processing or preparation of food and drinks,” it added.
Notably the company is in the process of obtaining the halal certification from Jakim for its centralised kitchen and certification for all its branches. It hoped the explanation will give assurance to customers that food prepared are within the guidelines and will continue in providing tasty, safe and authentic cuisines.
The halal authority body imformed that five top food chains operating in the country do not have Malaysia’s Halal Certification Certificate, besides Johnny’s Restaurant and Black Canyon, the other three food premises are Dolly Dim Sum, Mr. Dakgalbi and Bungkus Kaw Kaw.
