AirAsia is set to enhance its connectivity from its second-largest hub in Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu, with the introduction of a new route to Kaohsiung, launching on 17 November 2024. The airline will operate four flights weekly on this route.
Kaohsiung will become the 15th international destination served by AirAsia Malaysia (AK) from the Kota Kinabalu hub. As the only airline operating this route, AirAsia aims to bolster its presence with a total of 105 weekly flights from Kota Kinabalu to various destinations in ASEAN and beyond by December 2024.
The decision to launch this route is driven by the strong tourism demand between Kuala Lumpur and Kaohsiung, with over 80,000 passengers flown between these two cities since November 2022.
Kaohsiung is renowned for its vibrant arts and culture, and travelers can easily reach Taipei in just 1.5 hours via High-Speed Rail. The city boasts popular attractions such as The Pier-2 Art Center, perfect for art enthusiasts, and the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, which features works by Taiwanese artists, sculptures, and digital art.
For stunning natural scenery, visitors can explore the Lianchihtan Scenic Area or relax at Cijin Beach, known as the “Little Jeju Island” of Kaohsiung, offering breathtaking sea views.
