Malaysia’s Participation In Fine Food Australia Yields RM17.5 Million In Trade Value

Malaysia’s involvement in the Fine Food Australia exhibition, held from September 2 to 5 in Melbourne, has resulted in a trade value of RM17.5 million, with potential growth to RM64.0 million over the next five years.

The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (KPKM) announced in a statement today that Malaysia’s presence at the international trade event was well-received by local industry players, including importers and hospitality services, with the possibility of entering major supermarket chains like Costco.

The exhibition featured five Malaysian companies alongside a Melbourne-based Malaysian importer. Popular products that drew attention included freeze-dried fruits, energy drinks, sambal, cooking pastes, and durian-based items.

The Agricultural Counsellor Office (ACO) in Sydney participated in the exhibition in partnership with the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA). Malaysia’s Consul General in Melbourne, Nik Muhammad Nasyron Syah Nik Daud, highlighted that Malaysia’s participation not only creates new export opportunities but also strengthens bilateral ties with Australia.

According to ACO Sydney Vice-Consul Kalaivani Gohbal, Australia’s diverse and multicultural society provides a promising market for Malaysian food products, offering a platform to reach various communities across the country.
