Sunway University has announced a collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to launch a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) programme, designed to equip future physicians with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global healthcare landscape.
The programme combines UKM’s expertise with Sunway University’s innovation, focusing on advanced healthcare technologies such as AI, robotics, precision medicine, telemedicine, and digital health.
This partnership aims to empower students to address global health challenges, promote sustainability, and advocate for universal health coverage. The curriculum is tailored to develop well-rounded medical professionals and clinician scientists who can adapt to the dynamic healthcare environment.
A key feature of the programme is its affiliation with Sunway Medical Centre, where students will receive hands-on clinical training. The M.D. programme also promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing students to engage with healthcare professionals for a comprehensive understanding of patient care.
Professor Sibrandes Poppema, President of Sunway University, highlighted that the programme is designed to foster both medical and research skills, ensuring graduates are prepared to lead in the evolving global healthcare sector.
