UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he has not received any notification from Supreme Council member Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz regarding his purported move to join PKR.
He said this in response to media reports claiming that Tengku Zafrul, who is Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, intends to quit UMNO and join PKR.
“…we can’t confirm this,” he told reporters after attending Kolej Ketengah’s 4th convocation ceremony held at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
Ahmad Zahid, who is Deputy Prime Minister, said parties within the Unity Government should refrain from recruiting members from other parties within the alliance to maintain harmony, and should prioritise preserving unity and the alliance’s interests over personal agenda.
