Plantation Top Gainers, Nestle Falls Below RM100

Plantation stocks today occupied the first and second spots of the top gainers’ list. United Plantations Bhd gained 64 sen to settle at RM32.00 while Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd added 26 sen to close at RM21.66.

Vitrox Corporation Bhd, a technology firm, was the fourth-ranking gainer which advanced 19 sen to RM4.00 on a volume of 5,245,300 shares/units.

Other major gainers today included dairy supplier Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd which climbed 24 sen to RM30.56 and industrial listing Sam Engineering & Equipment (Malaysia) Bhd which advanced 18 sen to RM4.33.

On the decliners’ side, foodstuff distributor Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd today lost 78 sen intraday to top the decliners’ chart, as the stock price fell below the RM100 threshold to RM99.22.

PPB Group Bhd and Hong Leong Industries Bhd from the consumer products & services category were also among top decliners today, giving up 34 sen and 18 sen, respectively. PPB settled at RM12.24 while Hong Leong Industries at RM14.48.

BLD Plantation Bhd was the second-ranking decliner which shed 60 sen to end the day at RM10.88.

Notably, the fifth-place decliner Aurelius Technologies Bhd today slid 17 sen to settle at RM3.32, after rising for three days consecutively from RM3.05 to RM3.53 last week.

On the broader market, decliners outnumbered gainers by 624 to 335, while 472 counters were unchanged, 1,044 untraded and 16 suspended.

Exchange-wide turnover increased to 3.16 billion (3,160,517,600) shares/units worth RM2.45 billion (RM2,454,380,128) from 2.79 billion (2,785,135,650) shares/units valued at RM2.40 billion (RM2,401,580,453) recorded last Friday.
