EdgePoint Towers Sdn Bhd today announced the completed deployment of its outdoor Common Antenna System (CAS) at The Exchange TRX, in addition to 5G-ready infrastructure installed earlier this year, to provide strong signal transmission for enhanced connectivity for the mixed development project, according to a press statement released by the company on Tuesday.
Developed in collaboration with Malaysian Mobile Network Operators (MN) over a period of two months, the outdoor CAS can accommodate multiple MNOs in order to limit the number of antennas required. The CAS, deployed on-site within just one week, increases the strength of the wireless signals and boosts the capacity and efficiency of the wireless connection, in-building and outdoor. In total, the retail floor space within the mall, plus the outdoor retail outlets and parking levels, will now experience faster and smoother connection.
The upgraded connectivity is important for businesses, especially financial institutions that handle time and mission critical transactions and processes. Businesses and retail outlets, meanwhile, will also benefit from the improved signal strength and capacity that enable them to better support their operations and engage with their customers.
EdgePoint Towers is part of EdgePoint Infrastructure headquartered in Singapore with operations in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The launch of the outdoor CAS at the Exchange TRX is part of EdgePoint group’s broader mission of providing solutions to drive connectivity and foster the digitalisation initiative of Malaysia. The group will continue to explore opportunities to expand the usage of its CAS technology.
The Exchange TRX is a retail-led mixed development delivered by a joint venture between Lendlease, headquartered in Australia, and TRX City Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Malaysian Ministry of Finance. TRX City is the master developer of Tun Razak Exchange, Kuala Lumpur’s international financial district.
