Foodstuff distributor Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd today became the top gainer, rising RM1.20 to settle at RM99.00 on a relatively high turnover of 102,500 shares/units, nevertheless still below the RM100 threshold.
United Plantations Bhd was ranked second on the gainers’ list, surging 90 sen to close at RM33.30.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd, the national utilities counter, climbed 28 sen, settling at RM14.08 after recording a volume of 9,943,600 shares/units.
Beer supplier Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd and glovemaker Hartalega Holdings both rallied 20 sen.
Carlsberg settled at RM20.64 on a volume of 45,700 shares/units.
Hartalega, meanwhile, along with other glove manufacturers from the healthcare sector, recorded massive trading turnovers and substantial gains. Hartalega’s stock settled at RM4.03 at closing after surging 5%, as the counter recorded a volume of over 12 million (12,096,100) shares/units.
Petrol station retailer Petronas Dagangan Bhd was the top decliner today, losing 30 sen to close at RM20.24, while Apollo Food Holdings Bhd decreased 14 sen to settle at RM6.57.
Pharmaceutical company Kotra Industries Bhd gave up 18 sen, settling at 4.40.
Plantation stock Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd slipped 16 sen to end the day at RM21.44 on a volume of 488,900 shares/units.
Property listing Ayer Holdings shed 27 sen to settle at RM7.20 on just one lot (1 lot=100 shares).
On the broader market, decliners outnumbered gainers slightly by 501 to 480, while 562 counters were unchanged, 928 untraded and 10 suspended.
Exchange-wide turnover decreased to 2.55 billion (2,548,403,200) shares/units valued at RM2.29 billion (RM2,285,891,593), from 3.00 billion (2,992,971,600) shares/units valued at nearly RM2.44 billion (RM2,437,562,902).
