Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, witnessed the exchange of green electricity supply documents between UEM Lestra and ESR Group Limited under the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS). The ceremony took place during the launch of the MyEnergyStats portal by the Energy Commission.
UEM Lestra, as a renewable energy (RE) generator, will supply green electricity to ESR Group Limited through the utility company’s grid under agreed rates and durations. This marks one of the earliest agreements under the CRESS programme, which commenced on 20 September 2024.
Additionally, TNB Renewables has previously signed a 400MW green electricity supply deal with Bridge Data Centre (BDC) under the same programme.
CRESS, introduced by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water (PETRA), aims to provide broader access to green electricity for corporate users in Peninsular Malaysia to meet their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments.
To further enhance the programme, PETRA announced key improvements effective 1 March 2025, including:
- Opening participation to existing electricity users seeking direct green electricity supply from RE generators.
- Maintaining the System Access Charge (CAS) for three years under the regulatory period of Incentive Based Regulation (IBR).
- Limiting CAS variation rates to a maximum of 15% per regulatory period to ensure long-term cost stability for investors.
PETRA expressed confidence that these enhancements would attract more corporate participation, advancing Malaysia’s carbon reduction and ESG goals.
