i-City in Shah Alam has unveiled Sky i-City, a 60-metre-tall tower featuring a glass slide attraction, further solidifying its status as Malaysia’s No 1 Digital City. The new structure boasts an observation deck with a fully transparent glass floor, offering visitors a breathtaking view of the Klang Valley skyline. The highlight of the tower is the 600-metre-long glass slide, which loops and twists as it provides panoramic views of the city.
This innovative addition, illuminated by energy-efficient LED lights, has already transformed the skyline of Shah Alam, with i-City’s growing appeal expected to attract millions of visitors in the near future. Sky i-City joins other popular attractions at i-City, including the minus 8-degree Celsius SnoWalk, Digital Sport Arena, MySports, the acclaimed City of Digital Lights, and two hotels, DoubleTree by Hilton i-City and Wyndham Garden i-City.
In anticipation of Visit Selangor Year 2025 and Visit Malaysia Year 2026, these attractions are projected to bring in 5 million visitors in 2025, contributing significantly to Selangor’s economy, where tourism accounts for 26.5% of the state’s GDP. i-City’s focus on attracting visitors from key international markets such as the Middle East, Singapore, India, and China aligns with the national tourism goal of bringing in 35.6 million international tourists by 2026, generating RM147.1 billion in tourism revenue.
Director of i-City Monica Ong emphasised that Sky i-City represents the company’s commitment to sustainable tourism. The tower’s LED lighting uses less energy than traditional lighting, reducing carbon emissions and electricity consumption, and supporting i-City’s goal of minimising its environmental impact.
Ong added, “Sky i-City will not only be a key attraction at i-City but will also serve as one of the key attractions for Malaysia. It reflects our focus on innovation and sustainable development, attracting visitors while contributing to national tourism and sustainability goals.”
As i-City continues to combine cutting-edge attractions with sustainable practices, it is set to offer unique experiences that appeal to a wide range of visitors from around the world.
