Mondelēz International’s 2024 Trash Right recycling program has come to a successful close, with participation from over 4,000 students across six Klang Valley schools. Concluding on November 30, the initiative managed to divert nearly 14 metric tons of plastic waste for recycling, instilling enduring recycling habits in the young learners involved.
For six months, students participated in friendly competitions within and between their schools to collect plastic waste, tracking their progress through a real-time leaderboard. To enhance their educational experience, Mondelēz International employees and partners conducted interactive workshops that provided practical training on effective plastic sorting and recycling techniques.
The program’s success was bolstered by collaborations with PINTAR Foundation, Trash4Cash, and Lotus’s, which ensured responsible management of the collected plastics. These materials will be transformed into eco-boards, supporting a circular economy.
Looking ahead, Mondelēz International aims to expand the program in 2025 by increasing the number of participating schools and further motivating young leaders to tackle plastic waste and promote sustainability within their communities.
