MYEG, China’s Beitou IT Innovation To Launch Flagship China-ASEAN AI Lab In Malaysia

MY E.G. Services Bhd (MYEG) is teaming up with China’s Guangxi Beitou IT Innovation Technology Investment Group to establish the Malaysia-China AI Innovation and Cooperation Centre — the flagship China-ASEAN AI Lab — at Zetrix Tower in Petaling Jaya.

The lab, the first of its kind endorsed by both governments, is part of a broader Malaysia-China G2G pact on artificial intelligence development. It aims to unite AI, blockchain, and robotics leaders from China and ASEAN to build localised AI products and fuel cross-border tech applications.

Global tech names joining the initiative include Huawei, Alibaba, DJI, Deepseek, and Leju Robot, alongside Malaysia’s own Heitech Padu. The AI Lab’s first rollout will be a mutual digital ID recognition system between Malaysia and Guangxi Province, enabling smoother identity verification for both citizens — especially in financial services and tourism.

The Guangxi government has committed RMB10 billion in funding to support projects under the China-ASEAN programme, further boosting the lab’s ambitions.

“This lab will act as a bridge for China’s AI resources to power real-world use cases across ASEAN,” said Beitou Group Chairman Lai Shuiping. MYEG Managing Director TS Wong added that the partnership will drive a new wave of next-gen services, with plans to expand into other ASEAN markets.

Through this initiative, MYEG also continues to position its Zetrix blockchain as a key infrastructure for cross-border Web3 and AI integration, strengthening Malaysia’s role in the regional digital economy.
