Xiaomi has invested 13.5 billion yuan in the self-development of its advanced mobile chip, XringO1, according to its founder Lei Jun.
The Chinese smartphone and electric vehicle maker has also built a chip design team comprising more than 2,500 people, Lei said in a post on social media platform Weibo on Monday.
Xiaomi plans to invest at least 50 billion yuan (US$6.93 billion) into chip design over a period of at least 10 years, starting from 2021.
