Malaysia will be welcoming over 1,500 players from more than 16 countries for the WPC Asia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025, the largest event of its kind in the region. Taking place from July 16 to 20 atop One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya, the Grand Slam will transform The Pickle Grounds rooftop venue into a vibrant arena for world-class competition. With over 3,000 spectators expected, the event marks a milestone in positioning Malaysia as a rising hub in the global pickleball community.
The World Pickleball Championship (WPC) started in 2019 and has since quickly grown. It now includes over 80 events in more than 15 countries across four continents. The WPC community has more than 60,000 registered players worldwide. The WPC Asia Grand Slam 2025 will be the first Grand Slam event held in Asia.
It offers a prize pool of RM120,000, making it the largest pickleball tournament in the region so far. Malaysia is now ranked among the top three countries globally for the number of pickleball players.
The tournament will be a part of Pickleball Global, the world’s largest digital tournament platform, which tracks every match and contributes to a unified global leaderboard. This will be the first Malaysian event to feed directly into the international ranking system, enhancing the visibility of local players on the world stage.
Among the competitors are leading global names such as India’s Vanshik Kapadia (reigning WPC Asia treble champion) and Anna Clarice Patrimonio of the Philippines, the defending women’s singles titleholder.
Also featured are top athletes from the United States, Australia, China, Vietnam, Japan, and Poland, alongside Malaysia’s rising talents like Colin Wong, Razlan Rawi, and Sharneem “Neem” Reyes.
Reyes, a 26-year-old former tennis player now based in the US, has become one of Malaysia’s standout figures in international pickleball. Her return to compete in the Grand Slam reflects the sport’s growing popularity at home.
“Competing in the WPC will be an amazing opportunity to test myself against top international and local players, and also connect with the Malaysian pickleball community,” she says.

The WPC Asia Grand Slam 2025 will mark several major firsts for both Malaysia and the region. It will become Asia’s largest pickleball tournament, welcoming 1,500 players from 20 countries. The event is expected to generate around MYR 13 million in tourism impact, underlining its significance not just as a sporting milestone, but as a driver of economic activity.
Hosted at The Pickle Grounds rooftop venue, it will also be Malaysia’s first racket sport tournament held at such a location. The event will feature the debut of the Asia Pickleball Industry Summit, a two-day conference exploring the sport’s development in the region.
On the ground, visitors can experience the launch of Pickleball Boulevard—an immersive festival with pop-up social courts, brand activations, wellness showcases, and a Malaysian food and craft bazaar, all in support of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and supports the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. This endorsement highlights Malaysia’s strong commitment to sports tourism and international wellness travel. Additionally, the World Pickleball Federation, the International Pickleball Federation, and the Malaysia Pickleball Association are officially sanctioning the event.
The tournament also has support from major brands, including Joola and Franklin. Media partners include Astro Radio and World Pickleball Magazine, while Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur provides healthcare support.
Caryn Yap, Managing Director of WPC Malaysia, says the event is more than just a tournament. She describes it as a turning point for pickleball in Asia. The Grand Slam creates a global and inclusive platform that inspires players from all backgrounds.
The WPC Asia Grand Slam 2025 promises world-class competition, community impact, and international recognition for Malaysia as a leading sports and wellness destination.
