RM2.98 Billion Revenue Marks Sustainable Year For Air Selangor

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting strong gains in water efficiency, infrastructure upgrades and renewable energy as it works towards becoming Asia’s leading water provider by 2030.

The company achieved RM2.98 billion in revenue for 2024, up from RM2.82 billion a year earlier. Capital expenditure totalled RM690 million, with nearly 69% allocated to reducing non-revenue water (NRW).

Among the key highlights:

  • NRW Reduction: NRW rate stood at 27.00%, equivalent to water savings of 298.36 million litres per day.
  • Water Reserve Margin: Increased to 18.60% from 15.34% in 2023, reflecting stronger dam and treatment plant management.
  • Pipe Burst Index: Improved to 3.25 bursts per 100km of piping, from 4.18 in 2023.
  • Pipe Replacement: 1,008.56km of old pipes replaced since 2016.
  • Water Quality: Maintained 99.93% compliance with Ministry of Health standards.
  • Carbon Reduction: Commissioned a 9.0 MWac solar PV system at Sungai Selangor WTP Phase 2; 10.5 MWac underway at Phase 3.
  • Carbon Intensity: Recorded 0.544 kgCO₂e/m³ in water production.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Net Promoter Score improved to +26 in 2024 from +4 in 2022.
  • Social Impact: RM406,631.84 channelled to welfare programmes; SADE beneficiaries reached 324,257.

Air Selangor also issued its seventh Sustainability Sukuk in 2024 under a RM10 billion programme, raising RM1.2 billion for water-related and renewable energy initiatives. Total sukuk proceeds have reached RM4.33 billion to date.

The company says it will continue long-term investments to serve 9.62 million consumers across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
